Maligawatte Thero refused bail by SC

The Chief incumbent of the Bodhiramaya Viharaya in Maligawatte, Uvatanne Sumana Thero who is in custody for allegedly possessing a large stock of arms and ammunition was refused bail by the Supreme Court today.

 

 

Senior State Counsel Riyaz Hamza informed Court that the investigations have been conducted and the Report is with the AG's Department for consideration. 

 

He moved for further time to file charges and said at this time bail should not be granted. 

 

The bench comprised Acting Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake, Gamini Amaratunga and Mrs. Chandra Ekanayaka.
