President angry with Champika over his silence on Ban Ki-moon’s panel of experts

External Affairs Ministry sources say that the President is angered by the silence maintain by JHU’s Minister Champika Ranawaka over the panel of experts appointed by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to study the alleged human rights abuse that had taken place during the final phase of the war.

 

 

The President it is learnt is of the stance that the protest held outside the UN office in Colombo by the JHU led by Ven. Athuraliya Rathana Thero and Udaya Gammanpila was not sufficient

Sources said that although the President had sent several messages through his officials to Ministers Wimal Weerawansa and Champika Ranawaka to organize protest campaigns island wide against the panel of experts, Champika had ignored the requests.
