I will be patient only till November – Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva

Irrigation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has told several senior government ministers that his current portfolio was a useless one and that he would tolerate the situation only till November, SLFP sources said.

He has said that his political future would come to an end if the President fails to appoint him to a powerful ministry at the Cabinet reshuffle that is to take place in November after President Mahinda Rajapaksa is sworn in to office for a second term.

According to de Silva, he would then contemplate on accepting a post that has been offered to him at the World Health Organization, which is said to be offered to individuals who held the health portfolio in their respective countries for a long period.

  De Silva had further said he would make his final decision after looking at the situation that would arise after November.
