School girl sexually abused and killed in Ambalangoda

A 12 year old girl who was sexually abused by a 19 year old boy while on her way home from school was killed by the boy in Thalgasgoda, Ambalangoda, yesterday, police said.

Police Spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekara said that the boy had attacked the girl by hitting her head with a wooden club.

The boy was arrested by Ambalangoda Police this morning, he said.

The boy had told Police that he killed the girl because he was afraid she would complain to the police about what had happened, SSP Gunasekara said.
